Polynesian Village Resort's Captain Cook's Review
Disney resorts have some great options for food, you just have to know where to look. On a recent trip, I was wandering through the Magic Kingdom deciding what I wanted for dinner. Having spent a lot of time in MK, I have eaten at almost every food location (quick and full) possible. I felt like trying something new, so I looked up the Magic Kingdom resorts to see what options were available. I had heard great things about Capt. Cook’s at the Polynesian Resort, so I decided to give it a try.
I jumped on the resort monorail line and made my way towards the Polynesian resort. The restaurant is located on the main floor near Trader Sam’s Grotto. The restaurant is literally open 24/7 for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night dining. There are a lot of unique options for food such as curried seafood stew, pulled pork nachos, and pan asian noodles. I decided on the grilled chicken sandwich.
Now I know what you are thinking... a chicken sandwich really? The most boring thing on the menu right? Wrong! It includes cheddar, bacon, teriyaki sauce, and pineapple salsa. The chicken was perfectly cooked and very juicy. The toppings create a great texture and flavor profile. It is very messy to eat, but oh so worth it. It comes with a side of french fries and I ordered a water as well. Tip for the best sauce to dip your french fries in. Mix ketchup and mayonnaise together and whala, fry sauce!
It is a lot of food to try and eat, but I was full the rest of the night. The price is $11.29 and AP discount is available. As I finished up, I decided I wanted a dole whip to eat on the way back to the Magic Kingdom. If you didn’t know, you can this delightful dessert at the Polynesian Resort with little to no wait versus the Magic Kingdom. It was the perfect cap of a great meal at the Polynesian. Have you ever eaten at Capt. Cook’s? Let us know what you thought!
