How Much Can You Actually Eat at Disneyland in Days?
If you haven’t caught on by now, I (but actually we) really really really love Disney food. I have certain snacks and items I crave all the time, it breaks my heart not being able to go and eat Disney food whenever I want. There are very few places I haven’t ate at in the Disneyland resort, but I do have my favorites that I always go back to. This trip, we decided to do a mix of classic and new food. We may have overate by A LOT… but I got my fill for a good few months!
We started at the Disneyland Park on Friday with breakfast at Plaza Inn. I have previously ate here, but Erica had not. We like to try and do one character meal each visit, this was our pick for this trip. We secured a 9:20 AM reservation, but they were able to check us in right after 9:00 at park open and were seated immediately. Before you enter and pay, they take a PhotoPass picture that they print and will later show to you and offer it to you for about $20. It is physical prints in a cute folder that matches the restaurant. I wish they offered a digital copy for AP holders, but unfortunately it is a separate purchase only. We paid and were sat inside the restaurant. The food is buffet style and includes fruit, pastries, typical breakfast foods, and an omelet station. But the true gem of this restaurant is the sheer number of characters in attendance! We met Minnie, Chip, Dale, Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Pinocchio, Honest John, Captain Hook, Fairy Godmother, and Max. I don’t know of any other restaurant that hosts this many characters in one dining experience, it is worth the ~$30 price tag.
We were pretty full for the next few hours but when it came time, we decided on Bengal Barbecue for lunch. We split a Tiger Tail, Bengal Beef Skewer, and Safari Skewer. This was a new lunch option for both of us and it was really very yummy. I would definitely get food here again, it is a lighter option and can be a snack or a full meal depending on how much you order.
We normally do not venture outside of the park during our trips, but we had to make a stop in Downtown Disney to visit Sprinkles! Neither of us had ever had a cupcake from here, so we knew we couldn’t pass it up. We hopped on the monorail in Tomorrowland and then purchased our delectable dessert. It was about $5 for one cupcake, we decided to split it. We got the Red Velvet which is one of their best sellers and boy was it delicious. It is a must visit spot in Downtown Disney!
After a few more hours, we finally became hungry again and headed to our 6pm reservation at Cafe Orleans. We have both ate here, but it is a must visit for me each time. I crave food from here on a consistent basis! We both ordered the New Orleans Gumbo and shared the Pommes Frites. If those fries aren’t in heaven, I am going to be sorely disappointed. Covered in parmesan, garlic and parsley and paired with a Cajun Spice Remoulade, I could eat these every single day and never get sick of them. Other classics include the Mint Julep, the Monte Cristo Sandwich, and the Mickey Beignets. As we went through the night, we also snacked on treats from Jolly Holiday Bakery and a jalapeno cheese-filled pretzels. Think we ate enough food on day one?
Our second day was filled with even more food, who thought that would be possible? To begin, we ate breakfast at Flo’s V8 Cafe. There are some pretty standard breakfast items here, but also some unique items that have a Mexican flair on them, yum!
A few hours later, we decided to head over to the Cove Bar. Neither of us have had the chance to eat here, so we figured better late than never! Erica and I both do not drink, but we thoroughly enjoyed three different kinds of lemonade. The real winner here was the Fajita Quesadilla Rolls, my goodness they were delicious. Most likely a new craving for me to have all the time.
We went and watched Frozen, which gave us a chance to become hungry enough for a snack. With the Lunar New Year Festival going on, it seemed only fitting to grab some Soup Pork Dumplings. At $7, they were a little expensive since you only got 3 in the meal. The flavor was good, but unfortunately they were a little cold which made them a little rubbery, it sounds like this was a common trend with this item. We would most likely skip this in the future.
As it heated up in the day, we decided to grab some ice cream. We haven’t had the chance to create our own bars at Clarabelle’s Hand Scooped Ice Cream, so we took the opportunity. Erica got milk chocolate ice cream, dipped in milk chocolate and covered with chocolate chips and white chocolate pearls. I opted for the mixed berry sorbet bar, dipped in dark chocolate, and blue pop rocks on top. Both were very very yummy! Before dinner, we went and got a bread sample from the bakery and chocolate sample from Ghirardelli to fill the time.
Dinner was the winner of the day. We had a reservation at Wine Country Trattoria for the WOC Dining Package. The food was incredibly delicious and the viewing spot was great as well. Before we headed to our viewing area a few hours later, we grabbed hot chocolate and a churro to end the trip on a sweet note.
