Disney's BoardWalk Inn & Villas Review

Disney's BoardWalk Inn & Villas Review

Walt Disney World is full of magical and creatively themed resorts all around property. As we have mentioned before, there is a resort that almost fits any budget and family size. I recently had the chance to stay at a resort in the Epcot area and it may be my new favorite Walt Disney World hotel. This is a review of the BoardWalk Inn and Villas Resort.

As mentioned before, it is considered an Epcot resort. It is across the lake from the Beach & Yacht club resorts. The beauty of this resort is that you can conveniently walk into Epcot at the World Showcase entrance or take a quick 15-20 minute boat ride to Hollywood Studios. Of course you can also walk to Hollywood Studios, it takes about 20-30 minutes. I can’t begin to tell you how much I love this resort area, it is my personal favorite. Part of the high price tag you pay at these resorts is due to their location.

 The Resort

While the location is great, this resort puts many to shame, and for one good reason–the BoardWalk! Carnival-esque but not tacky, there is great entertainment, food, and shopping along this resort. You have a beautiful view of the lake as you walk around the walkway.

Described as “turn-of-the-century Atlantic City” by Disney, there is no better way to describe the feel. There is nostalgia in every nook and cranny that feels like a classic boardwalk. The lobby has incredible detail that transports you back in time. It recently went under a refurbishment to update the rooms and overall property. It is a “smaller” property, but I say that with the caution as the resort is still large. Compared to other at Walt Disney World though, it is what I would consider a smaller resort. It is a deluxe resort and DVC property.

 The Room

As this is a resort and DVC hybrid, you will find a wide array of rooming options to fit a lot of different size of groups. During our visit, we stayed in a standard room. The prices for these rooms start at $429.00 and go up quickly in price for larger or nicer rooms. As the resort has just completed a refurb, our room felt very new and clean. It was able to accommodate up to 5 people–2 queen beds and a couch that can convert to a fifth bed.

The room was large and we didn’t feel squished at all. We were on one of the upper floors, so we had a balcony that faced into one of the smaller resort pool areas. The theming of course continues with the BoardWalk feel and is done so well within the room. It is old-timey but doesn't feel old or run down. We all were a fan of our room!

This resort hosts two main forms of transportations, boat and bus. Of course Epcot you can walk into, but the boat also can take you there. For the boat, it generally departs every 15-20 minutes either to Epcot or to Hollywood Studios. To use the boat, it is at the back of the resort in the middle of the BoardWalk. Make sure to get in line for the correct boat!

Second option is bus, these will take you to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, and the waterparks. These buses are suppose to depart every 15-20 minutes, but that is not always the case. The bus stop is at the front of the resort on the meeting area side (right if you are facing the front of the resort entrance). There is a digital billboard that will show the next arrival time for each specific bus.

 Food and Amenities

My biggest frustration with this resort is the lack of quick service options, specifically for breakfast. You can find a small coffee bar and the BoardWalk Bakery, but that sums it up. As far as lunch and dinner quick service options, they have a wide variety and even more of variety for full-service locations. As it is a BoardWalk, it also has a few bar options there as well.

This is a meeting space property, so you will see conferences and/or weddings at this resort. It has a great pool with a fun carnival feel and some other smaller pools around the resort. There are a few shops and gym at this property as well.

Overall, I give this resort a 9/10. The biggest hang ups I have are price (but what do you expect with a deluxe resort) and the lack of breakfast options. Since it went under a refurbishment, it has become even more of a fantastic option in my mind. The location can’t be beat, the resort is beautiful, and the environment is fun. So if you are thinking of staying at the BoardWalk, do it!
